    Dear Parents and Second Graders,

Welcome to Station #11. I look forward to getting to know you and your child as we embark on our new school year together. I will start this introductory letter by telling you about myself as your child's teacher. This will be my 32nd year as an elementary school teacher. I have been teaching at Rolling Ridge for 29 of those years. I was born and raised in rural Hawaii and graduated from the University of Hawaii in 1991. I later moved to California in 1993 and went on to get my master's degree in curriculum and instruction from Cal Poly Pomona in 1997. I received my GATE certificate through the University of California in Riverside in 2002. My husband and I have 2 daughters. Our oldest works as a registered nurse and our youngest will be starting her senior year of college this fall. They are both former Rolling Ridge students. 💞 💞

Believing that every child has a unique personality that contributes to the classroom environment, I strive to encourage my students to be themselves and at the same time instill in them a sense of responsibility for their learning and behavior. Second grade is a year of many new concepts and personal growth. Your child's learning can be reinforced at home by repeating to you what they have learned in class, practicing math skills and number facts, keeping a journal, and reading, reading, reading!

I look forward to getting to know each of you. Please know that I will be sending out weekly announcements through our CVUSD "Parent Square" and ClassDojo by the end of each weekend. I usually send these out by Sunday afternoon or earlier that evening. This is my way of keeping parents informed about what is going on in our class for the following week.

Please look for the suggested school supply list on my welcome page. I appreciate you providing what you can to make sure that your child is ready for school.

    Best wishes,

    Mrs. Angela Liu
