*All students:  Cell phones (including earbuds, etc.)must be turned off/silenced and stored in the class phone storage hanger in your assigned pocket number. Another option is for you to place it in your backpack during the entire period. Students will be allowed to access their cell phones when the day's tasks are completed, during the last 12 minutes of class, or with teacher's permission ( earned privilege, cowboy cash-in, other).

Friday will be considered a Free-Fone-Friday when students may keep their phone on their desks turned over until instruction, and or tests are completed.  I expect everyone to be respectful of my rules and cooperate when given directives for activities. I will incorporate the use of cell phones at times so will need responsible and mature student engagement and interactions.  It will be used as a tool to look up information, participate in interactive learning apps, and to listen to music when independent work is assigned.

    ***Warning***

Students may lose the privilege of having phones on Friday if not compliant Monday through Thursday with my Cell Phone Policy.

Also, warnings are not given after the first week of school. Once you enter my classroom, the rule stands and will be enforced.  Class disruptions due to cell phone issues will be considered defiance and disciplinary action will be taken.

Parents may need to pick up their student's cell phone from the administrator's desk if a cell phone is not stored or used (calls, texting, music) without permission. I will contact parent, issue an hour Friday detention, and send the student along with the cell phone up to the office on a referral.

I expect 100% cooperation by all students. If a class is unable or unwilling to follow my guidelines by the end of the second week, I reserve the right to cancel my planned phone policy and simply restrict any cell phone usage during the entire period M-F. This would be unfortunate since I know your peers would not be happy with those who choose to rob the class of this privilege.

Note: students who have accommodation which includes listening to music during independent work time will be allowed to access cell phone when tasks are assigned.
