Course Description:

Integrated Math 2 is the second course of a three course sequence including Integrated Math 1, Integrated Math 2, and Integrated Math 3. This course satisfies the California Common Core Standards for Integrated Math 2. For the Integrated Math 2 course, students continue to develop algebra and geometry skills through engaging and real life applications. Students will build off of the standards they mastered in Integrated Math 1, building on geometry and algebra skills. Students will demonstrate abilities to reason logically and to understand and apply mathematical processes and concepts using algebraic operations, geometry topics with spatial sense, data analysis, and probability.

 

Class Rules and Expectations

·       Absolutely no phone or phone-related items are allowed in class. If I see one, I will collect it and you can pick them up after school. Repeat offenders will be subject to additional consequences. (Smart watch users should not be tapping their watches during class. I will ask you to turn your phone off in the pouch if I feel it is warranted.)

·       Students will have work daily. The excuse “I didn’t know we had work” will never work (no pun intended). Work must be neat and complete, reflecting your pride in your work. You are expected to complete your work on time. Late work is accepted if your absence is excused or by prior arrangement with the teacher. Work submitted in Google Classroom must be an original PDF scan (not a converted picture or a picture placed in a doc and printed/saved to PDF).

·       Be Responsible: Show up to class on time. Clear your absences. Have your Chromebook charged and ready. Bring your weekly work packet. Place your phone in the proper space in the pouch and sit in your proper seat. Keep your area and equipment clean. Do not leave class until dismissed by your teacher.

·       Be Respectful: Show self-respect by doing your best. Let your teacher teach. Let your peers learn. Do not deface school property. Use “inside” voices.

·       Be Safe: Don’t throw things in class. Do not charge Chromebooks during class (fire hazard).

 

Grading

Grading is based on the following categories: 65% Assessments and 35% Homework/Classwork. Realize that if you have 100% of your homework done, doing more homework will not raise your percent. On the other hand, doing your homework should raise your test grades. (Logical, right?) So, don’t do homework just to get it done; do it to learn it.

·       A 100 – 89%

·       B 88.99 – 79%

·       C 78.99 – 68%

·       D 67.99 – 56%

·       F Don’t get an F.

 

Artificial Intelligence/Academic Honesty (Plagiarism)

AI and web-based problem solvers are not to be used to do your homework. They may be used to check your homework. If you copy an answer from an online source, a classmate, a tutor, or a parent, this is called plagiarism. The consequences of plagiarism are a 0 (zero) on that assignment, meetings with counselors-parents-administrators and myself, in-school suspension, and possibly more. Cite any sources of a solution to a problem if you didn’t do it on your own and cannot reproduce it (for example, on the board in front of class) without notes.

During Tests

·       Do not communicate with your neighbors.

·       Do not look at their work.

·       Hide your work (especially from those behind you).

·       I will tell you how/when to submit your work.
